Why hello there.

My name is Rita, which you almost definitely know, considering you probably found your way here by stalking me on some website (it's okay, I don't mind.).

So anyway, yeah, I finally gave in and made a blog. Blogging is to 2010 what cocaine was to 1985--sure, it's self-indulgent, and sure, I'm killing brain cells, but everyone else is doing it. I've wanted to make a blog for a while, actually, because feigning self-importance is one of the things I do best.

The point of this blog is kind of to chronicle my applying for a foreign exchange program and (hopefully) my subsequent foreign exchange. And I guess other things in my life, but you better hope I focus mostly on exchange, because my everyday life is unbearably boring and I spend my days playing solitaire, (kind of) learning German and checking my email obsessively for anything Rotary/college related.

A little bit about myself, I guess. I'm Rita and I'm applying to do a foreign exchange with Rotary for the 2011-2012 school year. The process is kind of insanely complicated, and involves me trying to sound really sophisticated and mature in emails to people I've never met and overall, it's just an extremely awkward, nerve-wracking process. I'm hoping to go to Iceland (my dream, and I WILL get there some day, somehow) or Norway. But lately, as I've been thinking about it, I'd really be happy anywhere. I just want to go somewhere. I've wanted to do exchange since the end of 8th grade, but then, it was kind of a "Wow, that would be really cool but it probably will never happen." kind of thing. Once I looked into it more, I was determined to make it happen somehow, and I'm still working really hard to make sure it does.

There's really not much else for me to say right now. So. Um. The end?
